CONCERT 4 — GALA CONCERT

Sunday, 2 June 2019, 2:30 p.m. at McDougall United Church
The Edmonton International Choral Festival (EICF) wraps up with a Gala Concert, featuring the Festival headliners, as well as #connect and the Gala Festival Choir. The concert will feature Pro Coro Canada, Didgori and #connect. Pro Coro Canada’s #connect is a youth project choir designed to give ambitious 18 to 30 year old singers the experience of singing in a professional choir. This year, #connect will be conducted by Gabrielle Gaudreault, Emerging Conductor. Gabrielle was chosen as the apprentice conductor for the National Youth Choir, and Pro Coro Canada, in partnership with Choral Canada, has offered her an apprenticeship with #connect and Michael Zaugg during the EICF.
As well, the concert features the Festival Choir composed of community members, directed by Latin-American music specialist, Maria Guinand. Guinand is a choral conductor, university professor and leader of many choral projects internationally. She is frequently invited to give masterclasses in universities, guest conduct in major choral festivals and conferences, and be a juror in choral competitions in the USA, Europe, Asia and Latin America. At present, she conducts the Schola Cantorum de Venezuela with whom she has toured extensively and recorded many times.
